Whole Body MRI imaging for early detection of cancer
New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) A city diagnostic centre has introduced the non-invasive, radiation-free New Whole Body MR Imaging to enable early detection of cancer spread among patients.
The facility that is available at Diwan Chand Satya Pal Aggarwal Imaging Research Centre (DCA), one of the oldest radiology diagnostic research centres in the country, can catch the spread of cancer at an early stage helping in the starting of curative action in time.
Described as "fast, reliable and accurate", the package includes a whole-body moving platform that fits on the patient support and provides rapid, automated table movement enabling head-to-toe screening, particularly in detecting diseases of vital organs including the liver, brain, spine, pancreas and kidneys.
The cost-effective imaging scan inside the body has emerged as a viable diagnostic tool for evaluating cancer traces and skeletal tumours in the body, proving handy to those who wish to opt for the body screening module.
It is also considered a definite improvement over traditional CT scan which were not regarded as safe due to the radiation emitted. Till now, internal body screening mostly needed invasive treatment and could also prove fatal.
