New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) The Government has extended the services in the iron ore mining industry for another six months period begining June 18, this year and these will continue as a public utility service under the Industrial Dispute Act, 1947.
According to an official release issued here today, this is being done in public interest. Earlier, the services in the industry were declared a public utility for six months from December 18, 2005.
The employees in the said industry would, among other things, be required to give notice to their employers six weeks in advance of proceeding on strike so that conciliatory proceedings could be started. During the conciliatory proceedings and seven days after their completion, the employees cannot go on strike.
