UPA Govt not concerned about common people: Venkaiah
Chennai, June 19 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu today said the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre will soon fall on its own, it was not concerned about the plight of the common people.
Participating in a demonstration organised by the Tamil Nadu unit of the party to condemn the hike on prices of petrol and diesel here, Mr Naidu, termed the UPA Government as a 'sinking ship' and claimed out that the major reason for the UPA Government's fall would be the growing confusions and contradictions among the UPA partners.
He said the UPA government had hiked the prices of petroleum products several times, but failed to take suitable remedial measures to bring down the price hike.
''The 'anti-people' UPA Government had totally forgotten its election promises, he said coming down heavily on the UPA partners and allies especially the Left parties and the DMK, which always played a ''dual role'' in the people-related issues.'' The Left parties should reveal their real stand on the anti-people policies pursued by the UPA Government, he demanded.
Mr Naidu criticised Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S Ramadoss for maintaining silence over the anti-people approach of the UPA Government.
He wanted the opposition parties to intensify agitations against the hike in prices of petrol and diesel.
BJP leader and former Union Minister S Thirunavukkarasar, Party National Vice President L Ganesan and state BJP President C P Radhakrishnan also addressed the protestors.
