Three killed in lightning strike in K'taka

Bangalore, June 19 (UNI) Three people have been charred to death and five others suffered burns when lightning struck them in separate incidents in Bijapur and Dharwad districts of Karnataka, yesterday.

Police said 38-year-old Ashok was killed on the spot and three others suffered burns when lightning struck them at a field at Dyavanur village in Dharwad district while sowing groundnut seeds.

In another incident, 19-year-old Maliksab Mallanganavar was killed and two others suffered burns at Aralikatti village in Dharwad district.

In the third incident, Pomu Rambu Lamani (38) was sitting in front of his house at Siddanath Tanda in Bijapur district when the mishap occurred.

All the injured have been admitted to the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences in Dharwad.
