Chennai, Jun 19 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said the state government had taken utmost care to prevent the infiltration of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) into the state under the guise of refugees.

Talking to newspersons after chairing a meeting of the DMK and its allies on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, he said police had been instructed to 'filter the refugees' before they were allowed to take shelter in the camps in the state.

''Police has been strictly asked to very carefully filter and ensure that no LTTE infiltrate into the state. Stern action will be taken against anyone who tries to infiltrate,'' he warned.

He said the state government was taking all steps to meet the needs of refugees arriving in the state since January.

State Ministers Subha Thangavelan and K R Periakaruppan, deputed to visit the refugee camps, submitted a report to the government.

The government would take steps based on the report, he said.
