Star TV corespondent Jayant Kumar dead

Guwahati, June 19 (UNI) North-East corespondent of 'Star News' Jayant Kumar died today following a massive stroke.

He suffered the stroke on Friday night and was immediately shifted to local hospital where he had been on life support. The doctor diagnosed major clot in his brain and tried to remove that with incision. But he died at 1520 hrs.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi leader of the Goswami and AASU adviser Dr Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharrya have condoled his death.

He is survived by his wife and two children. A native from Mokma, Bihar, he has been in Asom and North-East for past 12 years working for various news organisations and channels. A highly acclaimed journalist, his last major assignment was Manipur crisis last month.

The 44-year-old journalist was a very popular figure in the North East and had been close to the various movements of the region, especially the Karbi Autonomous movement.

His death was widely condoled by the media fraternity. He will be cremated tomorrow.
