South India Kabaddi meet from July 29
Visakhapatnam, June 19 (UNI) the 23rd South India Kabaddi Championship will be held at the Swarnabharati Indoor Stadium from June 29 to July 2.
Speaking at the function, Commercial Taxes Minister K Ramakrishna said all arrangements had been made for successful conduct of the championship, being held for the first time in the city. Both men's and women's teams from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Pondicherry, Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh would vie with one another to clinch the cup.
He said this was the first time the south zone tournament was being held in an indoor stadium on a synthetic mat. Last year the championship was held in Bangalore, with Karnataka emerging winners in the men's section.
All Arjuna awardees and Indian players would be felicitated on the occasion, Minister and chief patron Ramakrishna said.
Tournament organising secretary J S V Prasad Reddy said the south zone team would be selected during the championship.
