Sensex touches a high of 9934.26 in afternoon trade

Mumbai, June 19: Sensex jumped 36 points in the intra-noon trade to touch the high of 9934.26 and is currently trading at 9921 points.

Experts feel, the buying in smallcap and midcap stocks has added strength to the market breadth that had slowed over the past few days, on the back of a global meltdown.

The BSE midcap index rose 1.34 per cent while the BSE smallcap index rose 1.70 per cent, outperforming the other indices.

The gainers on the BSE index were Tata Motors, Hindalco, Grasim industries, Cipla, Bajaj Auto, and ACC all growing between two to four per cent.

On the other hand some of the losers were - L&T, SBI, Wipro, ICICI, Ranbaxy, HDFC Bank, and Bharti Tele ventures all down between 1.5 to 3.5 per cent.
