Sania shown door in first round of Ordina Open
New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) Sania Mirza's cup of woes is brimming after the Hyderabadi teenager crashed out of the 175,000 dollar Ordina Open following her shocking first round defeat at the hands of Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic in the Netherlands.
Sania's 6-7(7), 6-2, 4-6 defeat would be a serious reason for concern, escpecially because it came on grass, her favourite surface in this WTA Tier III event and that too just before the Wimbledon.
Sania was leading 4-2 in tie-break when a disputed call snapped her rhythm and she conceded the first set, according to information received here today.
The world number 38 was in her elements in the second set which saw Sania dropping just two games. In the end, however, it was the Czech player who had the last laugh as she staved off the Indian challenge and moved into the second round.
