Rajkot, June 19 (UNI) In a techno savvy campaign for 24 seats of Rajkot Chamber of Commerce, ruling ''Karyadaksh Panel'' grabbed 18 seats, results for which declared last evening after the completion of the counting process at the Virani High School here.

The election was held on Saturday in which 1064 voters had exercised their franchise out of total 1267 voters.

However, 90 votes were declared invalid on technical grounds.

The counting of the election took place yesterday at the Virani High School in which 'Jagrut Panel' secured only six seats.

Mansukhbhai Patel, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Corporator who had also contested the election and won the contest under Karyadaksh Panel told UNI that the elected executive members would select their president in a day or two.

Mansukhbhai is one of the probable members for the presidential post. The other contenders are Ashwinbhai Mehta and Hiteshbhai Bagdai.

Both the panel members had contested the elections on main issues of Value Added Tax (VAT) and Octori.

Both the panels had promised to the voters that they would fight for abolish of the octroi from Gujarat and also raise the issue for simplifications of VAT.

Rajkot Chamber of Commerce, local association of business people organised to promote the welfare of their community, especially its commercial interests, has elected their 24 members.
