Rs 1,500 crore for beautification of Shimla
Shimla, June 19 (UNI) A sum of Rs 1,500 crore will be spent on strengthening infrastructural facilities and giving a facelift to Shimla town under the Jawahar Lal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JLNURM), state's Irrigation and Public Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur today said.
Presiding over the meeting of Shimla Beopar Mandal here, he said a detailed project report for the beautification of Shimla town had already been prepared and sent to the Central Government for approval and funding.
Mr Thakur, who also holds the portfolio of Urban Development, said about Rs 1,500 crore would be spent under the Mission for the beautification of the town.
Widening of roads, tunnels, construction of amusement parks and strengthening of infrastructural facilities would be undertaken under the Mission to attract tourists.
