Recruitment racket busted; 10 arrested
Amritsar, Jun 19 (UNI) Police today claimed to have arrested a gang involved in a racket for recruitment in Army and para-military forces.
Superintendent of Police (City) Kaustub Sharma told media persons here that acting on a tiff-off, police managed to arrest 10 members of the gang identified as Subedar Major Sucha Singh (retd), Amrik Singh, Satnam Singh, Salvinder Singh, Sukhvinder Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Balvinder Singh, Nirmal Singh, Gurjeet Singh and Lal Singh.
However, one Ram Singh managed to escape.
The SP said that all the members of the gang are retired army or para-military forces personnel.
He said that the gang used to charge somewhere between Rs 50,000 to one lakh, depending on the documents required for the recruitment.
Police also recovered some important documents from their possession, he added.
The officer said that a case under sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of IPC was registered against them and further investigations were on.
