Providing loans to farmers at 6% interest binding on state govt: CM

Sangli, Maharashtra, June 19 (UNI) The decision to provide crop loans upto three lakh at six per cent interest to the state's farmers is bieding on the state government, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh here today said.

He was addressing a farmers rally near here and said that after a green signal from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), the state goverment will fulfil it's decision and commitment to disburse loan to the farmers.

Without naming his alliance partner, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Mr Deshmukh hinted that the NCP would be Congress' main rival in the forthcoming Zilla Parishad elections.

State cooperation minister Patangrao Kadam, and state marketing minister Harshwardhan Patil were present on this occasion.
