President expresses concern over underworld attack on Bhatt

New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) Eminent film producers Ashok Pandit and Akbar Khan, actor Rahul Bose and members of civil society like former diplomat Kuldip Nayar, social activist Teesta Setalwad and noted Gandhian Nirmala Deshpande today met President A P J Abdul Kalam to protest and condemn the underworld attack on filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt on June 15.

According to M J Khan, the convenor of the National forum for social justice, under whose aegis the filmmakers and actors are protesting, the delegation got an encouraging response from the President, who gave the group a patient hearing.

''In fact, the President seemed to be more concerned that even all of us on the issue,'' Khan said.

According to Khan, Dr Kalam asked the group members to send their suggestions on the issue on E mail so that he could seek appropriate advice from the Government.
