Nitish calls upon banking sector to grant loans in rural area

Patna, June 19 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today called upon the Banking sector to provide more loans to rural areas and Self Help Groups(SHGs).

During a meeting with senior officials of the banks here, Mr. Kumar pointed out that most people coming to meet him in Janta Darbar had complained about the indifferent attitude of the banks in granting loans to them. He said that Banks should grant loans to the people living in rural areas more generously.

Chief General Manager of State Bank of India, A D Chaudhary assured to create special cell in the banks to help those who face difficulties in getting loans.

Senior officials of different banks including S Ganesh, regional director of Reserve Bank of India, A D Chaudhary, Chief General Manager of State Bank of India, B S Bhaturia, Chief General Manager of National Bank for rural development also participated in the meeting.

Chief Minister also discussed about the preparations in view of the meeting of State level Bankers'committee in which Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram was expected to participate on June 21 during his Bihar visit.
