Nine killed, three injured in accidents in HP
Shimla, Jun 19 (UNI) Nine people, including a five-year old girl, were killed and three seriously injured in four separate road accidents in Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hrs, police today said.
In the first accident, four people were killed and three seriously injured after their truck rolled down into a gorge at Pukri in Chamba district.
The accident occurred at about 1730 hrs on the Chamba-Pukri road near Pukri, 20 kms from Chama town, killing three people on the spot, while another died on way to the hospital.
The three people injured in the accident have been admitted to a government hospital at Chamba where the doctors described their condition serious.
Police said the cause of the accident was not immediately known.
In the second accident in the state, a truck driver was killed on the spot after another truck crashed into his vehicle at Khopri village of Shimla district early today.
The dead was yet to be identified and police said investigations were on.
A five-year old girl, identified as Jyoti, was ran over by a private bus near Bharari in Bilaspur district today, in the third road accident in the state, police said.
The driver of the bus was absconding and police said efforts were on to arrest him.
In yet another accident, in three people were killed after their tempo rolled down into a gorge at Khaniri village in Shimla district late last night, police today said.
The accident occurred after the driver failed to control the vehicle, which rolled down into the gorge in the district, killing three people on the spot.
Police said two among the dead were identified as Nepalis, while the third was a local person, adding that they were yet to be identified.
A case has been registered and investigations were, police added.
