Nine arrested for luring youths with fake visa

Nagpur, June 19 (UNI) Police today claimed to have busted a gang luring youths for jobs in Gulf countries on fake documents and arrested nine persons including a director of a well-known ''tourism company,'' two women and a constable attached to Immigration Department of the city police .

Police said the gang members were arrested on June 17 for their involvement in sending gullible youths illegally to Gulf countries. Police teams have left for Andhra Pradesh to arrest the key person behind the gang who is reported to be the director of a Andhra-based tourism company named 'Ganapati'.

Those arrested were identified as Bishapati Iilip Ippa Kayama, Biddiraju Wali, Mahesh Narayan Mimma, Mohammed Shami Kadar Hussain, Pravin Ravi Umkola, Taivyankateshwar Rayaramrao, Asmi Pummala Ral, (all from Andhra Pradesh), Pradeep Jivan Shiras (police constable) and one Mohammed mohid Abdul Wahid (both from Nagpur).

The police said the gang used to tempt youths especially from the labour class, about well paid jobs as a domestic servant, waitress and factory workers in Dubai, Muscat, Kuwait and other Gulf countries. They also used to obtain passports for these youths by submitting fake documents.

On Friday, they said the gang had sent a large number of people to Sharjah by morning flights. On a tip off, police raided the hotels on saturday and arrested nine youths who were kept for being sent by Monday flight. During the raids, the police recovered 25 passports, eleven mobile sets, laptop, an authorikshaw and cash collectively Rs 2,44,290 from them.

Yesterday all the nine were produced before the court of judicial magistrate which remanded them to police custody till june 23.

Further investigation is in progress, they added.
