NC to help PM to find solution to Kashmir issue

Srinagar, Jun 19: The National Conference (NC) in Jammu and Kashmir today said it will extend all help to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to find a lasting solution to the Kashmir issue.

The process started by Dr Singh in Kashmir will bear fruits, the NC legislative party leader in the Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather said here today.

Addressing a two-day party convention in central Kashmir district of Badgam he said the NC will extend all the help to Dr Singh in his efforts to find durable peace in the sub-continent by resolving the Kashmir issue once and for all.

However, Mr Rather reiterated that restoration of the internal autonomy was the only feasible solution to the problem.

About the coalition rule in the state, he said during the three year rule of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the Centre had provided Rs 15,300 crore plan for the state, but during entire six year term of the NC only Rs 8,000 crore had been given.

He claimed the progress made by the state during the NC was more visible on the ground while during the Mufti rule only foundation stones were laid.

Mr Rather said the NC will continue to protest against human rights violations by the security forces in the state.
