Municipal official convicted
Hyderabad, Jun 19 (UNI) The Principal Special Judge for ACB Cases, Vijayawada has convicted and sentenced a Junior Assistant, Chilakaluripet Municipality in Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of two years in a bribery case.
The Judge also slapped a fine of Rs 2,500 and in default to suffer simple imprisonment for a period of three months while pronouncing the judgement on April 26 this year for the offences under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against B Nageswara Rao.
Mr Rao was trapped by the ACB officials in February 1999 when he demanded and accepted bribe of Rs 500 from a retired sanitary maistry of the municipality for an official favour, an ACB release here today said.
