Medha, supporters court arrest outside 10 Janpath

New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Medha Patkar courted arrest alongwith 100 supporters outside the 10 Janpath residence of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi today to protest poor rehabilitation and resettlement of those affected by the Sardar Sarovar dam, witnesses and NBA sources said.

''Since the Prime Minister has refused to take a stand and stop construction of the dam, we decided to meet Ms Gandhi to press for urgent measures to stop the dam's height from being raised any further. You can't just flush out communities who have lived in Narmada Valley since time immemorial,'' the NBA's Deepti Bhatnagar, who too courted arrest, said.
