Mahto opposes Das's statement on regional party

Jamshepur, Jun 19 (UNI) Opposition leader in Jharkhand assembly Sudhir Mahto today opposed the comments of state finance minister Raghubar Das on regional parties and termed it "baseless" and "fictitious".

Reacting to the minister's reported statement that the regional parties characterized "corruption" and "indulged in looting", Mr Mahto said due to the regional party like Jhakrhand Mukti Morcha the dream of separate state was realized.

He said before airing any comments against the regional parties Mr Das should look into his own department where "financial irregularities" were detected by the CAG in at least ten departments and demanded a high level probe into the alleged misappropriation of government funds by the finance department.

Mr Mahto, also the general secretary of JMM, said on the contrary the regional parties were dominating the Indian political scenario now.

About the charges leveled against JMM supremo and Union Coal Minister Shibu Soren by Mr Das, he said, "Mr Soren was acquitted in all the cases." Mr Mahto said the Arjun Munda government might fall in office of profit issue and ruled out any mid-term poll in that situation. He claimed that the UPA would form government in Jharkhand if the NDA government was dismissed.
