Bangalore, Jun 19 (UNI) 'Zindagi Express,' the exhibition on rails traversing across the country depicting the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC)'s historic journey and achievements, will arrive here tomorrow.

The exhibition, specially designed for LIC by the Indian Railways, as part of its Golden Jubilee year, had seven bogies. The train, which started in Delhi on April 26, planned to cover 39 stations, of which it had so far completed 26. It would return to Delhi on July 16.

The exhibition showcased many historic documents, including a LIC policy bought by Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, besides the very first LIC policy purchased by S N Chetnis. Details about the biggest policy holder in the country was also available.

Briefing newspersons here, Senior Divisional Manager Pramod Kumar Gupta said the exhibition would be held in Bangalore Cantonment Railway Station on June 21 and 22, and in Mysore during the next two days, before it moved on to Goa.

He said LIC's Golden Jubilee product Bima Gold, which made a record sales of 1.03 crore new policies within seven months before it was withdrawn, would enter the Guiness Book of World Records as the highest sold policy in the world.

The state owned life insurance company was selling three crore new policies every year and in the just-concluded fiscal it had achieved a growth of 32 per cent.

After Bima Gold, Jeevan Tarang, one of the five products the LIC had offered during its 50th year of existence, was proving to be highly popular, he said.

Despite the entry of as many as 12 private insurance companies with foreign tie-ups, LIC performed admirably, recording an increase in lives covered by 30 per cent and premium collection by nine per cent, Mr Gupta added.
