K'taka Govt urged to reduce market cess

Hubli, June 19 (UNI) The Karnataka Cotton Association and Sub-Committees of Cotton Traders and Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee here today urged the Karnataka Government to reduce the present market cess from 1.5 per cent to one per cent.

According to a release issued by the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) here delegation under the leadership of KCCI President Shankaranna Munavalli met the Chief Minister in this regard.

The delegation said that with the market cess being only one per cent in the neighbouring States, it was difficult for the merchants to compete with their counterparts in other States by paying 1.5 per cent cess, the release added.
