Khurshidul Islam is dead
New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) Noted scholar and former chairman of the Aligarh Muslim University's Urdu Department Prof Khurshidul Islam has died.
He was 87 Prof Islam's poetry collections 'jasta-jasta', Rag-e-Jan and Shakhe Nihal-e-Gam, besides the Urdu-English dictionary he edited for Oxford University Press and a book on Mirza Ghalib were highly appreciated.
He had also edited several textbooks.
According to a University spokesman, he was ailing for sometime.
The end came yesterday. He is survived by son Dr Tariqul Islam who teaches Philosophy at the University.
