India helps Nepal build educational institutes

Kathmandu, Jun 19: India has provided financial assistance to Nepal for construction of educational institutes in Rupendehi district of the country.

According to a press release of the Indian Embassy here, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Mr Shiv Shankar Mukherjee today laid the foundation stones of postgraduate building and girls' hostel of Bhairahwa Multiple Campus, Siddarthanagar, Rupendehi and computer and library block of Shree Ram Naresh Yadav Secondary School, girls' hostel and computer and library block of Shree Ram Naresh Yadav Secondary School, Dhakhai.

Shree Ram Naresh Yadav Secondary School would help more than 3,500 students of Rupendehi and adjoining districts of Nawalparasi and Kapilvastu, the statement said.

These projects are part of 139 economic cooperation schemes being implemented by the Government of India in education, health and infrastructure sectors in 61 districts of Nepal with an outlay of NRs 1800 crore.

They reflect India's commitment to strengthen the bonds of cooperation between the two countries and to improve infrastructure in Nepal.

A commitment to this effect was reiterated during the recent visit of Nepal Prime Minister Shri Girija Prasad Koirala to New Delhi.
