Guj ATS arrests two LeT militants, 1 constable in RDX blast case
Ahmedabad, JunE 19 (UNI) Gujarat Anti-Terrorists Squad got custody two suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants and have arrested a constable of Gujarat Railway Police in connection with the RDX bomb blast at Kalupur Railway station in Ahmedabad on February 19 this year, in which 14 people had sustained injuries.
The LeT militants -- Mohammed Aamir Shakeel Ahmed Sheikh alias Abdul Kabir alias Aamir Shakeel and Saiyad Afiq Saiyad Jafrudin -- had left a suitcase laden with RDX in the S1 coach of Karnavati Express, said Mr D G Vanzara, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), ATS, Gujarat, here today.
Talking to reporters, Mr Vanzara said these LeT men were nabbed by the Maharashtra ATS on May 9 from Aurangabad.
They were brought here under transferred warrants and arrested by Gujarat ATS yesterday.
Gujarat Railway Police Constable Kamlesh Somaji Bhagora was arrested under the charges of 'concealing of criminal design' because when the sweeper of Western Railway informed him about the unclaimed suitcase in the S1 coach, he did not inform about it to his superiors and kept it in personal possession with a clear objective of personal gains. His disclosure to superiors could have averted the tragedy, Mr Vanzara said.
The DIG also claimed that the bomb blast was part of a wider conspiracy to by the LeT target Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and VHP International Secretary Pravin Togadia, later by the LeT.
