Fresh batch of pilgrims leaves for Amarnath

Jammu, June 19 (UNI) A fresh batch of 2,989 Amarnath pilgrims today left from Jammu to Pahalgam base camp for their onward journey to the holy cave shrine.

Accordingto the police sources, the batch comprising 1170 men, 208 women, 114 children and 197 priest, departed in a fleet of 124 vehicles including 57 buses and 67 light motor vehicles in around 0520 hours today.

The cavalcade of vehicles was also escorted by security forces, the sources said. Tight security arrangements have also been made at these centres for the safety of the pilgrims, they added.
