Former BJP MLA joins Uma's party

Bhopal, June 19 (UNI) Former BJP legislator Narendra Birthare resigned from the primary membership of the party and joined Ms Uma Bharti's Bharatiya Janshakti(BJ) at her residence here today.

Mr Birthare, who was elected as a legislator in 1996, made the announcement to join the BJ in the sadhvi's presence.

He had served as Shivpuri BJP President in 2000 and as district general secretary between 1990 to 2000.

He tendered his resignation to the state BJP President Satyanaryan Jatia.

''The political leaders having influence over the state BJP organisation are working against the principles of the party. In such circumstances, dedicated workers can't remain in the party,'' he said.
