Eight new meet records created
Bangalore, June 19 (UNI) Budding swimmers ensured that as many as eight meet records were obliterated at the end of day two of the 23rd Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championship, held at the Jain International Residential School pool at Kanakapura on the city outskirts, today.
While the inaugural day saw the shattering of four meet records, day two witnessed an equal number of new meet records being created.
On day two, the Maharashtra team erased the record of Tamil Nadu (two minutes 13:20 sec) by finishing 4x50 M in two minutes 12.08 sec in the Freestyle Relay event.
In the 200 M Individual Medley event (Group III), Jyotsna Pansare of Maharashtra broke the three-year-old record by covering the distance in two minutes 44:84 sec, as against the old record timing of two minutes 45.71 sec created by Neeraja B of Karnataka. In Group IV of the same event, Ruhab Khan of Delhi swam in two minutes 54.00 sec to erase the three-year-old record of two minutes 58.84 sec held by Kalyani Basu of Maharashtra.
In 4x50 M Freestyle Relay, Maharashtra lass finished the distance with a record timing of two minutes 17.00 sec as against the old record of two minutes 17.07 sec held by Maharashtra.
