Delimitation commission holds meeting abput Saurashtra
Rajkot, June 19 (UNI) The delimitation commission, headed by retired Supreme Court Justice Kuldip Singh, today held public hearings here about the realignment of the constituencies in Saurashtra region.
The Delimiation Commission, which was set up to decide on the boundares of constituencies in Gujarat, has held meetings with various representatives of eight districts -- Kutch, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar and Amreli at Hemu Ghadhavi Hall here.
Various representatives of the districts have expressed their views and suggestions in favour and against the realignment of the constituencies.
The meeting was held this morning and continued till late evening to give enough time to the representatives of the concerned districts to express their views and suggestions regarding realignment of the constituencies.
The commission has considered all the proposals that the commission had received before June 1.
Associate members of the commission -- Chairman Justice Kuldip Singh, Election Commissioner N Gopalswami, Election Officer Ashok Bhatia and other senior officials were present at the public hearings.
