Congressmen laud Rahul
New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) Audio recorders were distributed among 80 students of a school for the blind here today at a function organised by Youth Congress workers to celebrate the 36th birthday of party MP Rahul Gandhi.
Cabinet Minister Oscar Fernandes, DPCC chief Ram Babu Sharma and IYC president Ashok Tanwar were among those present at the function, a DPYC spokesman said. They also handed over school bags to many children from orphanages, he said.
Inspiration to start the programme came from Rahul since he had proclaimed that the party ought to work for ensuring better education to the poor and weaker sections of the society, Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress President Amit Malik was quoted as saying on the occasion.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Delhi Assembly Speaker Prem Singh greeted the ''young and dynamic'' leader and ''expressed hope'' that Rahul would ''carve the future of the nation''.
