Cong committed to fulfil people's needs: Vasan
Chennai, June 19 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation G K Vasan today said the Congress-led UPA Government was committed to fulfil the needs of the people and ensure their welfare.
Inaugurating a medical camp organised by the Tamil Nadu Congress Seva Dal in connection with the 37th birthday of Rahul Gandhi, MP, at the fishing hamlet of Nochikupam, he said India would become a super power and the present Government was taking every effort to achieve the goal.
The Congress was growing fast across the country, especially in Tamil Nadu, under the able guidance of its President Sonia Gandhi.
Mr Rahul Gandhi was attracting more and more people, particularly the youth and working hard for the country's prosperity.
Mr Vasan hailed the services rendered by the Seva Dal volunteers during the tsunami disaster of 2004.
In his address, Chief Organiser of the Tamil Nadu Congress Seva Dal and Former MLA K Selvaraj said it organised the birthday celebrations of Mr Rahul Gandhi all over the state today.
He later distributed free notebooks and textbooks to the students.
