BSNL revenue crosses Rs 39,000 crore: CMD

Hyderabad, Jun 19 (UNI) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Chairman and Managing Director A K Sinha today said the BSNL had earned Rs 39,500 crore revenue as against Rs 36,000 crore last year, achieving 9.5 per cent growth.

Speaking to newsmen here, Mr Singh said the net profit would cross Rs 10,000 crore this year. While BSNL earned Rs 20,000 from fixed telephones, Rs 6,000 crore from mobile networks, the balance came from broadband services and operators using its services.

Stating the BSNL targeted to provide 20 lakh broadband connections in 2005-06 and 30 lakh in 2007-08, he said 600 towns would be covered under broadband network in 2007 and 1000 towns in 2008.

At present the BSNL had seven lakh broadband connections and enjoyed 67 per cent market share.

At present the BSNL had 3.5 crore fixed line, 1.8 crore mobile and 27 lakh WLL connections, Mr Sinha added.
