Bank employees to go on one day strike on August one

Vijayawada, June 19 (UNI) The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) and the All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) would observe a one-day nationwide strike on August one, in protest against the privatisation of banks in the country.

Talking to UNI here today, AIBEA General Secretary Ch.

Venkatachalam said about six lakh employees across the country affiliated to AIBEA, AIBOA, All India Grameen Bank Employees Association (AIGBEA) and All India Grameen Bank Officers Association (AIGBOA), would participate in the strike affecting banking operations that day.

Mr Venkatachalam said the AIBEA and other associations were demanding the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Government to withdraw the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) circular on outsourcing the bank services and withdrawal of RBI instructions to outsource clearing operations.

The other demands included withdrawal of bill on deleting the ceiling of voting right of foreign capital in banks, filling up the existing one lakh vacancies in banks and one more option for pension to employees, he added.
