Assam Rifles golfers bag success in all India tournament

Shillong, Jun 19 (UNI) The Assam Rifles yet again proved their mettle this year at the Xth All India Police Golf tournament hosted by the Karnataka police from June 15 to 17 at Karnataka Golf Association Golf Course, Bangalore.

Over 20 state police teams and para military forces participated in the tournament.

The Assam Rifles team comprising Lt Col. TSM Vishwanathan and Maj. Ajay Agawal were declared runners up in the overall team championship nett category.

The coveted individual gross was bagged by Maj. Ajay Agarwal with a score of 15 over 159. Dr P Lengen bagged the individual gross with a score of 27 over 243.

Assam Rifles was not far behind in the ladies category. Ms Radha Vishwanathan bagged the overall nett category championship with a score of 174 nett.

The Golfers from Shillong have bagged a number of coveted prizes at national level in the recent past.
