ISO/TS 16949 corp certificate for Ashok Leyland

New Delhi, Jun 19: Ashok Leyland, the Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group, has become the first Indian auto company to receive the coveted ISO/TS 16949 Corporate Certification.

At a function organised here today, Indian Register Quality Systems (IRQS) MD K Madhok, presented the certificate to Ashok Leyland MD R Seshasayee.

Affiliated to the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), ISO TS 16949 is the latest international quality standard, specific to the auto industry, and is a significant improvement on ISO 9001/2000, lauded as one of the most comprehensive Standards to have been evolved worldwide.

Commenting on the significance of TS 16949, Mr Madhok said, ''Where it differs from its predecessors is that its primary focus is on being customer centric, it has direct linkage to the business goal, it involves a process-centric auditing methodology and it is a performance oriented standard that drives an organisation towards business excellence.''
