Animal vaccine use in Bhopal hospital
Bhopal, June 19 (UNI) In the wake of reports of use of vaccines meant for animals at Hamidia hospital, attached to the government medical college in the state capital, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today made a surprise inspection of the hospital.
Mr Chouhan ordered blacklisting of firms, which supplied animal vaccines at the hospital and suspension of guilty doctors, official sources said.
A doctor was suspended for discharging a patient midway through the treatment, while another doctor was suspended for administering a wrong injection to patients.
The Chief Minister yesterday directed Principal Secretary (Health) M M Upadhyaya to conduct an inquiry into the alleged supply of vaccines of animal use at the Hamidia Hospital and submit the report within 24 hours.
''The government's priority is to provide better services at government-run hospitals and no laxity will be tolerated in this regard,'' he said.
He directed the officials to draft an action plan to improve the management as well as services of the government hospitals in the state capital and elsewhere in the state.
About 40 vials of the animal vaccine were reportedly supplied through the Laghu Udyog Nigam to the Hamidia Hospital, which has used eight vials so far.
