Water sports festival kicks off in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 18 (UNI) A six-day water sports festival has kicked off in the world famous Dal Lake here last evening.

During the festival, organised by the state Tourism Department, as many as 22 local boys would train in various water sports events.

The events include rafting, open race, water skiing and kayaking.

The department also proposed to organise a rafting course at Leh and Kargil.

To revive adventure tourism in the state, a rafting championship would soon be held at the touris resort of Pahalgam.
