Vendor stabbed, night curfew stays in Aligarh
Aligarh, June 18 (UNI) Night curfew continues in the trouble-torn five police station areas of Aligarh, even as a vendor was stabbed with a knife in Kotwali area this afternoon.
According to police, the incident was the fallout of a minor dispute between the vendor and a shop-keeper. The incident had caused panic in the area and the market was soon closed down.
The vendor identified as Giriraj has been admitted to hospital.
Meanwhile, the day curfew has been lifted in Banna Devi, Gandhi Park, Kotwali, Sasani Gate and Dehli Gate areas.
The curfew remains in force from 1800 hrs to 0600 hrs, the following day.
So far, 350 persons had been arrested under various charges, including violating curfew order.
Violence had erupted after local BJP leader and trader O P Gupta was shot dead by armed miscreants on May 28.
At least nine people were also wounded in the communal clashes.
