Chennai, June 18: A meeting of the office-bearers of the United National Party (UNP) will be held soon to discuss the overall performance of the Mahinda Rajapakse government in Sri Lanka and the present developments in the island nation to take the party's stand on it, former Sri Lankan Prime Minister and UNP leader Ranil Wikramasinghe said today.

Talking to mediapersons at the airport here before leaving for Colombo, Mr Wikrsmasinghe pointed out that the party had already submitted a detailed report to the government about the ceasefire and resumption of peace talks between the Government and the LTTE last Thursday.

However, several developments had taken place after that, he said, and added that the meeting of the UNP office-bearers would take stock of the current situation in view of the escalation of hostilities between the Lankan government and the LTTE.

When asked on the present developments there, he said it would not be fair on his part to make any comments without knowing the full details.

Only after reaching Colombo, any comments will be made, that too after acquiring details from partymen and others, he said.
