Three Lanka policemen killed in mine attack
Colombo, June 18: Suspected Tamil Tiger rebels ambushed a police water tanker in a town in north-central Sri Lanka today, killing three constables, a senior police officer said.
The claymore fragmentation mine attack took place in the town of Vavuniya, just south of rebel-held territory.
The officer blamed the Tiger rebels. ''It was a claymore attack on a water bowser,'' he said. ''Three constables were killed.''
