Stolen 'ashtadhatu' idol recovered, 6 arrested
Lucknow, June 18 (UNI) Police today recovered a stolen 'ashtadhatu' idol and arrested six persons in this regard from Kakori area of the Uttar Pradesh capital.
About 80,000 Real (Brazilian currency) was also recovered from their possession, SSP G K Goswami said addressing a news conference here this evening.
The idol is estimated at several crores of rupees in the international market.
The accused -- Devidin, Amar Lunia, Ashok Soni, Santosh, Amar Kumar and Riaz -- were arrested near Sitapur-Hardoi bypass.
Dr Goswami claimed the idol was stolen from an ancient temple in Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh six months ago.
Further investigations were on.
