Return to its basic priorities, Arjun tells Bihar Congress

Bettiah(Bihar), Jun 18 (UNI) Union Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh today stressed upon the need for the party to return to its basic priorities to strengthen its base in the state.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Singh said the Congress should work for the poor and downtrodden sections of the society to spread its area of influence. He called upon the mediamen to work sincerely for bringing a sense of responsibility in public life.

Fed up with the sorry state of affairs of schools established by Mahatma Gandhi in Champaran, he said that local people will have to come forward for improvement in these schools. He assured to write to Bihar Chief minister Nitish Kumar to take suitable steps for reviving the institutions established by the father of the nation.

Earlier, inaugurating a building constructed by the West Champaran district bar association, Mr Singh called upon the lawyers to work for strengthening the democratic system in the country.
