Jammu, June 18: In view of the spurt of terrorist activities by ultras donning army uniforms, the district administration has imposed restrictions on sales of Army uniforms in Jammu.

District Magistrate Hridesh Kumar Singh has imposed restrictions, with immediate effect, on unauthorised persons dealing in sale, purchase, storage, and stitching of army combat dress/readymade combat dress in the district, apprehending that these are being passed on to terrorists and other anti-national elements.

''All authorised firms/shops dealing in such articles will inform the nearest police station, within seven days, the fact of their carrying on this occupation,'' he said, adding it would be mandatory hereafter for all the authorised firms and shops dealing in such articles to maintain registers giving details of the quantity of articles received, date of sale of articles and the address of the party/person to whom sold.

The DM said such authorised firms will only sell such articles to bonafide members of the armed forces after verifying their identity and will have to maintain records of their unit and rank.

He said a police officer of the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector and above will have the authority to check and inspect such registers on a routine basis and as well as for the purpose of enquiries and investigations.
