LONDON, June 18 (Reuters) Detectives in Kent were questioning two teenagers today after the pair were arrested on suspicion of murdering 16-year-old Michael Chapman.

Police said the dead boy from the Sittingbourne area of the county died on Friday night after an ''unprovoked attack'' at the playing fields at Gore Court Cricket Club.

A 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old youth were arrested late yesterday night before being taken to separate police stations.

Officers have appealed for people to come forward with any information.

''Anyone who knows why someone would want to hurt Michael must come forward and talk to us,'' Detective Superintendent Lee Catling said.

''Michael died in an area we know is popular with young people and I appeal to anyone who was there on Friday night to contact us.'' REUTERS MQA1938
