Bhubaneswar, Jun 18 (UNI) BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today alleged that Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss has been trying to destroy the sanctity of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene into the matter.

Ms Swaraj told newsmen here that it was most shocking and infortunate that the AIIMS, set up under an Act passed in Parliament, was being destroyed for 'political adventurism.' Reacting on the statement made by Dr Ramadoss against AIIMS Director P Venugopal that he(Mr Venugopal) was free to resign, the BJP leader said such type of remarks were never made in a democracy.

The Health Minister, she said, was behaving like a 'malik' (master) and treating the Doctors as his 'naukar'(Servants). Being a doctor, Dr Ramadoss should respect the profession and the dedication and commitment of the doctors, Ms Swaraj remarked.

She said instead of the Health Minister heading the AIIMS, it should be now headed by the Prime Minister.

Stating that stand-off between Dr Ramadoss and the Director of the AIIMS was not healthy for the institute as well as the country, the BJP leader urged the Prime Minister to intervene into the matter and resolve the crisis.
