One killed, three injured in shootout on victory procession

Motihari, June 18 (UNI) One person was killed and three others injured in a shootout during a victory procession of a newly-elected Mukhiya at Narha Panchayat in Bihar's East Champaran district today.

Superintendent of Police Sunil Kumar Jha said here former Mukhiya Niteshwar Singh and his supporters allegedly opened fire on the procession celebrating victory of newly elected Mukhiya Ram Babu Rai at Narha village, in which one person was killed and three were injured.

The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Muzaffarpur.

Mr Singh, who also contested for the post of Mukhiya, was defeated.

Later-police arrested Mr Singh and his younger brother Awadhesh in this connection.

A rifle, a gun and several live cartridges were recovered from their possession, Mr Jha added.
