MCOCA court to hear bail plea of Chhota Rajan's wife

Mumbai, June 18: The bail plea of Chhota Rajan's wife Sujata Nikhalje and his elder brother would come up before the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court judge Abhay Thipsay tomorrow regarding their alleged involvement an extortion case.

Sujata, who was arrested on December 14 last year, and Rajan's elder brother Prakash Nikhalje approached the MCOCA court pleading bail in this case.

Immediately after her arrest, sujata went on a hunger strike in police custody to protest her arrest under MCOCA. Later police had to admit her to a city hospital under judicial custody.

Earlier in the last week of January this year, she informed the court that she had given up her hunger strike and was ready to face the interrrogation in this matter. Police had taken her with custody under court directive on February 16.

In all, six accused who were arrested in the case, are in judicial custody including Rajan's wife, his brother Prakash Nikhalje and their three accomplices Suresh Shinde, Harvinder Singh alias Kookoo Daruwala, Rakesh Surve and her chartered accountant Bharat Dudhani.

The police alleged that Sujata had received half of the Rs ten lakh extortion amount from the complainant.
