Local hero Lee Chong Wei wins Malaysian Open

KUCHING, Malaysia, June 18 (Reuters) Local hero Lee Chong Wei won his home title for the third year in a row today by beating China's Lin Dan 21-18 18-21 23-21 in the Malaysian Open men's singles final.

Backed by vocal support from most of the 6,000 fans, Lee showed great courage against the world number one, fighting back from 13-20 in the decider to take the top prize of 9,600 dollar.

China's Zhang Ning won the women's singles title, also for the third year running, by beating Britain's Tracey Hallam 21-12 21-13.

China won the women's doubles with top pair Gao Ling and Huang Sui beating compatriots Du Jing and Yu Yang 9-21 21-16 21-17.

Ko Kien Keat and Chan Chong Ming won the all-Malaysian men's doubles competition with a 14-21 21-11 21-17 victory over Lin Woon Fui and Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari.

China finished with three titles after Zhang Jun and Gao Ling won the mixed doubles final, beating Denmark's Jonas Rasmussen and Britta Andersen 19-21 21-14 21-15.
