Lightning claims 14 lives in M'wada, several cattles killed

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, June 18 (UNI) At least 14 people were killed in various districts of Marathwada region due to lightning, as heavy rains accompanied by thundershowers lashed the region since the last 24 hours.

Deputy Divisional Commissioner Dileep Shinde told UNI as per the initial information reaching the divisional headquarters here today, the lightning claimed seven lives in Latur district alone followed by Parbhani (three), Jalna (two) and Nanded and Aurangabad (one) each respectively.

These figures were based on the initial information and details are awaited, Mr Shinde said.

The reports reaching here stated that several cattles were also killed due to the lightening in various parts of the Marathwada. An official report is expected by tomorrow noon, the sources added.
